Meet The Team

The reason why our store is so good is down to our fantastic team, here you get the chance to meet them.

George Dagley – Director

George started the business 30 years ago with his son Chris. George has been in the jewellery business all his life, his family have always been jewellers and watch makers. George is a highly skilled watch maker, he is able to repair antique watches and also watches with complicated movements, he is a craftsman in the traditional sense and is able to hand make parts for watches when all sources fail us which is a gift that he has passed on to Euros, our resident watchmaker since George’s retirement.

Christopher Dagley – Director

Chris has an amazing knowledge of the jewellery industry, he knows about watches, jewellery, diamonds and coloured stones, he is a valuer, a watch maker and a fantastic business man. There is no one in the industry who has a bad word to say about Chris he is well respected, honest and friendly.

Geoff Day – Head Goldsmith

Geoff has been working as a goldsmith for over 24 years, he is incredibly skilled he not only carries out routine repairs to a very high standard, but produces beautifully designed hand made pieces, and sets stones as well as any specialist stone setter, his pave setting which is the pinnacle of the setters career is a beauty to behold.

Geoff is a creative individual and as such has the temperament of a TV chef, he has to be kept supplied with coffee to keep him from savaging the staff. He has a seemingly unending supply of comedy waistcoats that he wears to the workshop every day. He still won’t eat his vegetables even though he is supposed to be a grown up.

Alison Penning PJDip – Assistant Manager

Alison has been in the jewellery industry since 2003, in that time she has obtained the Professional Jewellers Diploma and Professional Management Diploma, she has also sucessfully completed a diamond grading course, and would like to progress to the Diamond Diploma. Alison is responsible for ensuring customer service standards are met, and has a fantastic rapport with customers, with her experience and eagerness she will find you the perfect piece of jewellery. Alison is organised and methodical and keeps everything in order Chris, which is no mean feat!

Alison loves to travel and see new places. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, and loves going out to try new things to eat.

Ann Richardson – Repair and administration

Ann is in charge of ensuring that the repair system runs smoothly, and that customers jobs are completed on time, she also makes sure that we keep in contact with our customers. Many of the colourful and interesting displays in the store are down to Ann, when left to her own devices, she creates beautiful windows.

Ann loves going to Ireland. She is a devoted grandmother.

Euros Hogsden – Watchmaker

Euros is the man who changes your battery, reseals your watch and sorts you a new strap, he makes sure the on the spot watch repairs are done. He also services watches and clocks which is a skill that he has learned from George. He also ensures we have a good range of watches in store, and monitors trends and fashion in watches.

Euros like a true Welshman loves rugby, and we always have to have matches on in the background on Saturdays. He loves Oreos, but hates mayonaise and nuts. He is very quiet, but very funny when he finally says something.

Gareth Henricksen – Goldsmith

Gareth started training as a goldsmith when he came to work for us 6 years ago. He is now a fully trained goldsmith capable of carrying out all manner of repairs to a high standard. Gareth has recently started designing and making jewellery and is finding his own design style and prefecting his traditional jewellery making techniques.

Gareth is passionate about Liverpool Football Club, and would love a season ticket. One of his highlights in work was when he got to polish the Charity Sheild trophy when it was contested in Cardiff.

Cerian Thomas – Assistant Manager and Buyer

Cerian has always had a passion for coloured stones and has recently taken charge of one of our most dynamic events, our gemstone days. It is also her responsibilty to ensure that the coloured stone window remains vibrant and interesting.

Cerian has a real shoe addiction and if given the choice of food or shoes would go hungry, she can often be found wandering around House of Fraser shoe department with a look of wonder and lust on her face, and will frequently lead Kerry astray and encourage her to buy ridiculous shoes she can’t walk in. She has a diverse taste in music which is at odds to her smart appearance, some of her favourite bands are Metallica, Incubus and Led Zeppelin.

Julie Coulthard – Jewellery Consultant

Julie joined us almost a year ago now, and in that time has become an integral part of the team. Julie makes sure that the displays are all clean and tidy, as well as making sure that we are fully stocked with bleach at all times ensuring that the staff room has a constant lingering eau de bleach!

On a personal note, Julie is one of the nicest people you could meet and will do anything for you. This makes her great with our customers who warm to her immediately, and popular with every member of staff.

Becky Garrett – Jewellery Consultant

Becky is the newest memeber of the team and is also the youngest member of staff making her the baby of the Christopher George family. Becky has undertaken the responsibility of the charm links which is one of our most popular brands.

Becky has a love of travel, and is currently studying travel and tourism at college. Becky is a natural brunette but frequently has blonde moments which amuse all of the staff. She loves going out and spending time with her family and friends.

Neil Padfield – Gold Buyer

Neil has been with us for just over a year now, buying in gold at the best prices in Cardiff! Neil is situated on the upper level of the Queens Arcade where he runs the dedicated area for gold buying.

Neil is a typical mans man, he loves motor bikes, curry and a good drink! He is often found cracking jokes and has the staff in stitches most of the time. Neil is the man that everyone likes, he has many friends and nobody has a bad word to say about him…although that may be due to the cash he hands out in exchange for gold?!
